Amber with Jamberry Nails...

Happy Monday!
We hope you had a fantastic weekend in the sunshine!

We have just under 2 weeks before the big weekend and so much
to still share with you!

Today we'd like to introduce you to another one of our vendors, Amber Sharp who is an Independent Jamberry Consultant...

"I am married to my loving husband Steve and we have two awesome kids, Chad and Paige. I am a work at home mom who runs a Home Daycare and now is proud to say a Jamberry Independent Consultant. I am a “Crafty Mom” as many put it, love to do crafts of all sorts and I am most passionate about Scrapbooking. This is my 5th year at BC Crop for Kids and I am so excited to be able to bring you ladies Jamberry Nails!

I am passionate about bringing you fun Jamberry Nail Wraps and not pressuring you into buying, hosting a party or joining my team, I know when you see the many styles and designs that we have to offer you will come and find me. Get your own unique, professional nail design and say “Goodbye!” to nail polish.

These wraps are made from a solid film covering that can be applied directly to the nail to achieve a look not found anywhere else. This special material is both pressure and heat activated to create a water tight bond to your nail (similar to shrink wrap). The shields are made in the USA, with no harsh chemicals and latex free. These designer nail wraps are made to last up to two weeks on fingers and six weeks on toes. Unlike traditional nail polish, they won’t chip and require no drying time. It’s so easy to achieve a professional, salon look at a fraction of the cost!

During my time that my Vendor’s Table is open I will be running a “Mystery Hostess Party”, which means for each and every one of you who places a order each of you will be entered into the draw to WIN the Mystery Hostess Title. You will then be contacted the following day by phone and told what the final sales amount came to and how much you will receive in FREE and what you can purchase at a discount as well as how many half-off items you can order. We then can figure out what you want to choose and once all entered it will then be shipped to your home…..easy peasy for everyone and you didn’t even have to clean up your house and make any snacks to host this party!!!

ALSO, with Christmas soon approaching purchasing Jamberry Nails is a super fun and easy way to give a gift, with so many fun designs and styles to choose from you could purchase for a bunch for friends and family all at once and each package takes up so little space in your secret hiding spot!!"

Amber will have a table on Sunday at 9AM...make sure you stop by to see some of her Jamberry Nail wraps!

Vendors, Vendors and more Vendors!

We are so happy to be able to provide a platform for all of you lovely ladies to see and shop with some fantastic vendors this year!

If you are new to our event, we have many different vendors coming over the weekend. They are always only set up for a handful of hours so you need to stop by their tables to see what sorts of specials and goodies they have for us!

In some cases, they will have make and takes, products and even classes during the event so be sure to make a note of those that interest you and what date and times they will be available!

Today I'd like to introduce you to
Andrea McCorduck

Andrea is an Awareness Teacher and Reiki Master. Using her connection to Spirit and her wisdom in many areas of Spiritual Health, Andrea delivers healing and relaxation, through group meditations and individual healing sessions. When you are working with Andrea, you will find a safe and compassionate space. This energy allows you to release blockages from many aspects of your being.

Andrea joins BC Crop for Kids again this year, and will be on location at various times throughout the weekend. She has donated some exciting group and personal session packages to the Silent Auction and booth prize draws.

Visit with Andrea at the Discovery Healing booth on Friday evening and Saturday morning to see her assortment of metaphysical items and semi-precious stone jewellery. This will include tumbled crystals, pendants, pendulums, cards, and Aroma Therapy products.

Register in person for Reiki sessions and/or Intuitive card reading sessions Saturday afternoon and evening, 25 minute sessions for $25.  You may also pre-register for sessions by emailing us at bccropforkids@gmail.com.

In addition to Reiki and Readings, new this year is a 1-hour meditation class on Friday night. Come prepared to relax, expand your senses and open yourself to greater creativity. The $10 class fee will be donated to BC Crop for Kids.

This Meditation class will consist of two 25 minute meditations. These intuitively guided meditations are tailored for those that are present. Please dress comfortably and bring a sweater as some individuals feel cold when they meditate. Please bring some water as well. This experience will be relaxing and will offer healing on many unseen levels. You will have the option to share and I can offer some insights. Do bring an open mind that is ready to be expanded and allow you to open up to greater creativity.

Reiki is an ancient form of hands on Healing composed of Rei/ Light and Ki/Energy. These Universal Elements are channeled through to ease tension, balance blood pressure, increase creativity, and work on all levels of being ( physical, ethereal, emotional,  mental, spiritual, self, and soul). Each and every session is individually tailored and may include: a visit from an angel or past loved one; a clearing involving: past lives, chakras, patterns or beliefs, or simply exactly what you need at that time. A Reiki session is a safe place for you to allow healing to take place and to release that which is no longer serving you.

An intuitive card reading will provide you with healing and information with the use of cards as a focal point. If you are looking for some answers and can't seem to, "find the forest for the trees", a reading can help to bring clarity and healing to many situations.    In keeping an open mind releasing expectations and embracing wonder you will allow the energy to flow as it is meant to.

Andrea has grown up having abilities that were unsafe to use in her immediate environment. These experiences have lead her into working with children and supporting them, with their families, as their own gifts emerge. She intuitively connects in and supplies the tools and techniques that help everyone to live with greater ease and understanding.  Andrea is a 36 year old mother of three children and has recently opened up the Discovery Healing Centre in Maple Ridge. Please call with any questions 604-761-2158

Is it time to pack?!!! Part One

Hey there croppers...is it time to pack yet?
With only three weeks before this year's event...
shouldn't we get started?!!

It's Kristine here and I wanted to get you thinking about what you are bringing to this year's event...if any of you know me even remotely...you'll know that I might be a last minute packer...I have been known to just toss items into bags and then organize my stuff while at the crop or retreat!

I certainly would not recommend that method...I have also 'planned' layouts, projects, photos etc. before a retreat or crop...which of those two do you think are the
smarter ways to prepare?
 No brainer right?!!

Well I can attest that saying we need to plan ahead and actually doing it might be harder when we don't even know where to start!

So let's start thinking about it, ok?

I'm going to try to break it down for all of us to be better organized for a more productive weekend. My hope for all of us is that we will only need to make one or two trips to the car!!!

Ask yourself the following questions...write them down in a notebook while we work towards getting organized...making lists is the first step on the road to organization :)

  • Is there an event, project or specific photos that you really want to scrapbook?
  • Is there some extra special embellishments, papers or tools you really want to play with?
  • What kind of Scrapper/Cardmaker/Project Life'er are you? Do you power out stuff or are you a little slower? This is the NUMBER ONE way to avoid overpacking!!! Be honest with yourself!

Now those are really the only questions I have for you because now we are going to break it down...

Organize your photos-remember those answers to the questions above...start organizing those photos keeping in mind what event, photos and speed with which you create!

  • Find your photos off your camera cards, computers or from your already printed stack...
  • Grab some sketches! If you like a sketch, you can organize which photos you want to print ahead of time for that sketch.
  • If they aren't already printed...take some time everyday (if you only have a little time daily) to send them off to print... Shutterfly, Costco, London Drugs, Shoppers Drugmart... wherever you like to get them printed.
  • Sort those printed photos into scrapbook pages or sketches you've already chosen...whichever works best for you...but you need to sort and separate so you can organize your papers etc.
  • If you know what photos are required for your classes and you know what you want to use with them...get those printed too.

You will have more than enough photos to scrapbook if you organize your thoughts and photos ahead of time...you will also avoid printing out hundreds of photos and stressing out over them if you plan now!

Organize your stash-don't forget your answers from the questions above! You need to work with only one event/sketch or select photos at a time...let's not get overwhelmed before we even start! Grab a series of photos from one event and start shopping in your stash...

  • kit, kit, kit...seriously, I mean it!
  • Do you purchase more than one paper from a certain collection? Do you also get the stickers or embellishments that match? Put them all together...kit, kit, kit.
  • Put those paper collections and matching stickers and embellies into crop bags or XL Ziploc bags (I get the cheap XL ones from the dollar stores, they are around 13"-make sure to check the packaging)
  • If you know that you are wanting to use specific papers and embellies with specific photos...put them all together in your Ziploc/crop bag...kit, kit, kit.
  • If you have a sketch picked out, the photos printed and organized for that sketch and the papers and embellies you want to play with for all of it...kit, kit, kit.
  • Start grabbing those embellishment possibilities and match them with those paper collections and kits.
  • Continue to write yourself notes...make a list so you can remind yourself of what your plan is...I have wasted plenty of time sitting looking at my stash trying to remember why I packed it and what I wanted to do with it!
  • Grab those sketches! (Hopefully you've found some of the wonderful sketch sites out there and have some sketches printed out)...they will help you keep your focus on design and creating while being distracted in the crop room...I'm not the only person who is easily distracted am I?
  • kit, kit, kit...seriously, I mean it!

Just start with one event/series of photos at a time...find those papers, embellies and sketches that work with that one event and put them together in a kit...if you work a little at a time, each day or whenever you can carve out time before the weekend, you will be well on your way! You will also not get too overwhelmed and you will be SUPER organized! Also..if you end up putting together more kits than you get to on the weekend, you will be ready for your next crop, retreat or evening of scrapping! Win win right?!!!

We haven't even touched on all the other stuff we ALL tend to carry along to crops...we don't need to worry about that yet...start with your photos and stash first!

I will be posting a Part Two soon but by then you will have started thinking about what you're packing right?!!!

See you again in a couple days ladies!

Kristine

Back for more introductions!

We have so many wonderful teachers for you to meet and we hope you are enjoying getting to know some fun facts about each of them!

Today you are meeting Karen Haugland! Karen has been a huge supporter of BC Scrapbooking Crop for Kids since the beginning as an attendee and a sponsor!

"I’m a married mother of three boys, with a work background in textile design. When my first son was a few months old I was invited to my first scrapbooking gathering. I was sold immediately! Seven years ago I was introduced to Close to My Heart. My first order was over $300, my second order was my consultant kit! Just a few months later I attended and taught at my first Crop for Kids event. What a great group of ladies, what a fantastic cause. I’ve been proud to get more and more involved each successive year."

Random things

1. I love to garden both flowers and veggies and I’m the only one “allowed” to mow our lawn

2. I have a weird obsession with gravity in my scrapbook layouts – things must make gravitational sense, nothing hanging around in space

4. My Husband I got married 3 years to the day after our first date. Remembrance Day, my anniversary is always a holiday and my hubby literally CANNOT forget it.

What kind of camera do you use?
I own a very nice Cannon Eos Rebel 3i, I love learning to use it and get some great pics, however, most of my photos are taken with my iphone 5 as its with me almost all the time and can quickly and conveniently get real life snaps.

Let's introduce you to Leanne today!

Hello! Are you starting to feel like you are really getting to know this year's line up of teachers?!!! Great!

We are back today with another teacher introduction!

Let's meet Leanne Payne! Owner of Cherry Lane Scrapbook Shoppe in Mission and a great supporter of
BC Scrapbooking Crop for Kids!

Leanne has taught and sponsored classes, donated prizes and been a crop attendee for many years!
We are thrilled to have her support for yet another year :)

Leanne is a photography enthusiast, avid scrapbooker, organizing nut, family historian, a baker, a gardener, seamstress, bookworm, dog & cat lover and will
find any excuse to be outside.

She spends most of her hours at Cherry Lane Scrapbook Shoppe, teaching classes, chatting with customers, gluing herself to stuff (see photo above!), playing with paper and getting inky. Any "spare time" is spent with her husband and tiny dog and trying to stuff in the all the hobbies above!

5 random or funny things about you:

1. I have a secret dorky dance
2. I procrastinate the heck out of everything... ie: I work well under pressure :)
3. It took me four days to get this questionnaire back to Kristine... see above!
4. I like to wear socks. And flip flops... at the same time.
5. My first job was cleaning pin decks at the bowling alley every Friday night

What kind of Camera do you use? DSLR, Pentax

How long have you been scrapping? I've been scrapping in the most basic format (gluing bits in a book) since I was little, and saving even more bits & making sure I wrote down dates & what the photos were about etc... I didn't stumble across modern scrapping until about 10 years ago.

What got you started? My sister in law's scrapbook of her daughters first year... I saw it, and it was like a light bulb turned on. THIS is PERFECT for all my photos and bits and stories and stuff... I got started right away!

12X12, 8 1/2 X 11, or other? 12x12, double pages and a little bit of pocket scrapbooking to supplement

When do you feel most creative? Morning... evening... afternoon... whenever I get a chance to sit down at my desk!

Are you a fast scrapper or a slow scrapper? Sloooowwww. I have to tell myself to make a freaking decision and stick it down! And that really, it IS only paper. You can get more!
Who are your scrapbooking idols/inspirations? Umm... Tim Holtz is pretty awesome, but not so much for scrapbooking, more for mixed media fun. Scrapbooking? Not sure I can name anyone in particular
Favorite Drink/Food/Candy? Hot coffee, cold can of Coke, cold bottle of beer on a hot day... chocolate. Vanilla ice cream. Nachos with LOTS of cheese
Favorite Movie/TV Show/Singer/Song? Don't really watch TV. Don't watch very many movies either. I like watching the original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on Christmas morning. Too many artists, songs & genres to list!

Favorite Hobby (other than scrapbooking)?
Reading

Leanne will be instructing a layout class on Saturday, September 27th at 9:00-11:00am...
