I posted my story, but was unable to tag the BC Scrapbooking Crop for Kids page in my note so I tagged Mary! Hope that's ok!

A friend helped me figure out how to tag in my status, but I couldn't get it to work in a note, so you got the Cole's notes version in my status...

It is true what is said about a mother's role, taxi driver, housekeeper, cook and nurse, little did I know I would get a crash course on how to be a nurse to a baby who would require multiple surgeries.
Our journey began Dec 25th 1998, Christmas morning only one day until we get to take our beautiful daughter home. I was excited to spend Christmas morning with my new baby in the ICU at MSA.
I was told news that would change our family life forever, "Mrs Bond your daughter may be blind, we need to take her to BC Children's Hospital to be seen by a Specialist". No warning just like that WHAM, how does one respond to that?

The next two years there were many kilometers to and from Vancouver for many appointments. Decisions had to made, and surgeries needed to be done immediately. After 19 surgeries and 10 months later one our daughter's eyes had an ulcer that caused an infection. The Dr's and nurses were so knowledgeable and kind, but we were concerned for our daughter's well being and all the surgeries were taking a tole on us and on her. Waiting rooms and waiting for news whether good or bad we waited and are still waiting.
Fast forward a few years and over 20 surgeries later we are starting all over again with making tough decisions regarding our daughter's future sight. "Vision is Life" was a statement made from our Ophthalmologist this week, so true and scary at the same time. We wait again for a tissue transplant for a cornea in the hopes of saving our daughter's sight. We have been told that she has a 50/50 chance of being blind by the age of 20.

In retrospect we realize are very well aware that cancer or any other life threatening disease is very different on the scale of sight or no sight. We are very fortunate to have the specialists and caring staff at B.C Children's Hospital that have been there through our journey and are now considered a part of our extended family, for the past 11 years.

I know the whole story has been condensed for the purpose of writing just a note but if wasn't for BC Scrap-booking Crop For Kids the progression of science and technology would be at a standstill .l feel that it furthers the cause for answers and cures that are waiting for each and every family who has walked through the doors of B.C. Children's Hospital no matter if for a short stay or a long period of time.
